On June 22, 2015, was held the steel cutting ceremony at Fincantieri’s Monfalcodne shipyard (Trieste, Italy). On March 4, 2016, was held the keel-laying ceremony, during which a 550-ton keel block was laid to officially start the ship's construction/assembly of the prefabricated blocks into sections. During this traditional event, shipbuilders place special edition coins to bless the new vessel and to bring luck. In summer 2023 (April-November) the liner was deployed in the Caribbean and homeported in Port Canaveral/Orlando Florida. The season was based on short breaks (3- and 4-night roundtrips visiting MSC Ocean Cay Bahamas) and 7-night voyages to Mexico (Cozumel and Costa Maya), Belize, and Ocean Cay.

Ocean Cay Restaurant
The EVO-class newbuilds deliveries were scheduled for 2021 (Seashore) and 2023 (TBN). The Fincantieri Monfalcone-built Seaside is the first of the Seaside-class MSC newbuilds and the first MSC cruise liner christened in the USA (December 21, 2017, in PortMiami). In 2017, Seaside was also the largest passenger ship ever built by Fincantieri.

Aboard MSC Seaside, the two main dining rooms are Seashore Restaurant and Ipanema Restaurant; the buffets are Marketplace Buffet and Biscayne Bay Buffet. Other notable changes to the public areas included a wider promenade, a custom-designed water park and a five-deck Yacht Club VIP area. Diesel generators at mid-ship; a wider hull; and, possibly most noticeably to passengers, the relocation of the most popular public areas to lower decks, which impacts the ship’s center of gravity.
In the theater, however, you'll hear about five languages, and there's usually a large contingent of passengers from several European countries, including Italy and Germany. MSC Seaside Caribbean cruises are particularly popular among an international crowd, as are Mediterranean itineraries. With a capacity of over 5,000 passengers, a tonnage of 153,516, and the size of three-and-a-half American football fields, MSC Seaside is an imposing vessel. It would be easy to think that with that many passengers the ship would feel crowded and chaotic.
The ship was also the largest ship ever constructed at the Italian shipyard, Fincantieri. The menu is inspired by the great plains and it is accompanied by bold New World wines and cocktails with swagger. The multi-level glass-walled atrium stretches over four decks, creating an atmospheric venue where guests can enjoy live entertainment and panoramic vistas.

Our experience on the MSC Seaside, a 4-night cruise to the Bahamas from Port Canaveral with stops at Nassau and the private island Ocean Cay, was our second sailing with MSC Cruises. Our first encounter was on the MSC Divina during the cruise restart after Covid in November 2021. It was a less-than-stellar experience, but we attributed it to the initial challenges of navigating Covid restrictions and reopening issues.
